Thanks to Netflix’s The Crown we saw Elizabeth Debicki recreating Princess Diana’s revenge dress moment. Story is that Princess Diana kept her dress in her drawer for 3 years because she did not want to wear it as it was too revealing. But in June 1994 after the controversial television programme aired detailing Prince Charles relationship with Camilla Parker-Bowles, she wanted to look at her very best. She wore the famous “revenge dress” made by Greek designer Christina Stambolian to the Serpentine Gallery’s summer party.
The choice of wearing that particular dress led the way for other celebrities to wear any jaw-dropping outfit after a breakup.
Mariah Carey for example wore a memorable two-piece at the 1997 MTV VMAs.
