While our next escape to the sun-drenched Riviera might be firmly on hold for the foreseeable, Dior has brought the Côte d’Azur to London instead – with a dose of dolce vita thrown in for good measure – by way of an aesthetically pleasing new rooftop pop-up.
The Dioriviera space is situated on the Selfridges rooftop, overlooking the once-more buzzing city centre, and features a breezy, seaside-inspired restaurant named Dior at Alto (a Dior-ified version of the existing Alto by San Carlo) with a menu specially curated by the fashion house, including some of Monsieur Dior’s favourite dishes. The accompanying cocktail menu also features drinks renamed in tribute to Dior history, with elixirs specially concocted for the temporary restaurant.
There’s also a pop-up boutique, which stocks everything you could possibly need for your next summer holiday – including Dior deckchairs, a Dior beach racket set, or a Dior surfboard – spanning homeware, womenswear and accessories. There’s even a limited-edition Dior Vespa scooter, designed in collaboration with the Italian brand.
The space itself was inspired by the uplifting, acidic colours found in Maria Grazia Chiuri’s latest Dioriviera capsule collection (also available to shop in the pop-up boutique), with the brand’s instantly recognisable toile de Jouy print adorning walls, ceilings and soft furnishings. From 1 August, the pop-up shop will transform into a rooftop bar for two months, allowing customers to soak up the last of the summer with a drink in hand.
