The Hair And Makeup Details From The Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show

20/11/2017

The Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show never strays too far from its beauty cornerstones: bouncy Bombshell waves, glowing and bronze skin, and flirty eye makeup and lipstick. This year’s look in Shanghai was no different, save for the Parisian cat-eye from last season was a little smudgier for an overall softer and more carefree look.

Makeup artist Tom Pecheux—who worked with the Angels at the show in Paris last year—was also behind this year’s Shanghai-ready beauty look. After creating a perfectly smudged and smoky eyeliner look (complete with two thick coats of mascara), Pecheux’s team used the Victoria’s Secret Velvet Matte Cream Lip Stain in Adored on the lips, then layered on a second color to reach the perfect pinky-nude shade for each model. Depending on their skin color, the models wore either Perfection (a dusty rose) or Love (a pink mauve). “The overall look featured a smoky eye that’s slightly naughty,” said Pechuex backstage. “Taupe and brown shades were applied with a smudged brown liner on the lower lashline that was swept up and blended into eye shadow. Highlighter was added to the inner corner of the eye for a sexy, glowing effect.”

Most of the Victoria’s Secret Angels and models walked the runway with the signature waves. While some hair extensions were added in for fullness or a hint of length (see Bella Hadid), most models walked with their natural hair length, even if it was no longer than a lob (see Elsa Hosk). “This year’s look is relaxed and sexy – each model’s natural texture was enhanced and perfected for a ‘day-after-the-party’ vibe. Hair had volume and separation for a sexy, undone feel with movement,” lead hairstylist, Anthony Turner, said backstage.

Just as in year’s past, models with naturally curly or textured hair had the choice to rock it on the runway—and many did, including Alanna Arrington, Maria Borges, and Aiden Curtiss. Popsugar spotted hairstylists working Moroccanoil Curl Defining Cream through curls backstage to enhance their natural texture and boost shine.
