Halfway through awards season, the SAG Awards hits a sweet spot in which the stars have got into their red-carpet stride following the Golden Globes and Critics’ Choice Awards, but aren’t under the same pressure demanded by the global hype of the Oscars. Accordingly, it’s a great opportunity for beauty experimentation: an unconventional lipstick shade, or a dramatic hairstyle, perhaps. Working with her longtime make-up artist and hairstylist, Rachel Goodwin and Mara Roszak, Emma Stone opted for a glossy red lip and romantic up-do that offset her gilded Louis Vuitton outfit.
Gemma Chan’s sweeping Oscar de la Renta gown called for a truly romantic beauty look, with Monika Blunder creating a pretty-in-pink make-up look and Clariss Anya Rubenstein styling her hair in a soft chignon with loose tendrils around her face.

We don’t know how long it took Laura Harrier’s make-up artist, Nina Park, to find the perfect fuchsia lipstick to match her Loewe gown, but it was worth it. (It’s Chanel Rouge Allure Velvet in Infrarose, by the way.)
We feel like Lupita Nyong’o’s intricately braided hairstyle deserves an award of its own. With braids and beads by Marva Stokes and styled by Vernon Francois, the look was the perfect complement to her custom Vera Wang gown.
Opting for a symphony of top-to-toe pinks, Yara Shahidi wore her shimmering Fendi Couture look with petal-hued gloss eyeshadow and nude lips, whilst her hair was styled by Naivasha Johnson in “a glorious bed of romantic curls”. Youthful and beautiful.
