Rihanna’s upcoming Savage x Fenty lingerie show will be streamed on Amazon Prime this year, the brand has announced. This will give fans across the globe an opportunity to watch from the front row, as well as get a behind-the-scenes look.
“I couldn’t be more excited that everyone will have full access to the Savage x Fenty show this year,” Rihanna said in a statement. “We are working on creating a bold, sexy, super energetic experience for our viewers.”
The show will likely break with the traditional catwalk-show format as it has previously, bringing the worlds of music, culture and fashion together. Taking place during New York Fashion Week this September, there are rumoured to be a number of musical surprises, which could see Rihanna herself take to the stage.
The Amazon Prime special will be broadcast to 200 countries across the globe and will feature a behind-the-scenes look at the making of the show.
This news comes after the announcement that the world’s most famous lingerie show, Victoria’s Secret, would not be broadcast on television this year, eventually leading to the decision to reportedly cancel the show. The brand has come under fire for its lack of body diversity and its out-of-touch attitude over the past few years. In contrast, Rihanna’s Savage x Fenty presentation was praised for its very modern approach to an underwear show, where a vast array of different women took to the catwalk last September.
