Met Gala 2022

03/05/2022

When we first heard about Met Gala’s 2022 theme, we were quite sure that we would see lots of references from the past and celebrities did not fail to meet our expectations. The 2022 Met Gala theme was a dedication to the Gilded Age that saw America transformed at the end of the 19th century. The theme continued 2021’s exploration of American style which was divided in a two-part exhibition; “In America: An Anthology of Fashion”. Part one – “In America: A Lexicon of Fashion,” opened at the Anna Wintour Costume Center in September, and part two – “In America: An Anthology of Fashion,” will open on May 7, in the American Wing.

Call it the Party of the Year or the Oscars of Fashion, any way you name it, the Met Gala is absolutely an event that stays in our minds forever.

The event was hosted by Blake Lively, Ryan Reynolds, Lin-Manuel Miranda and Regina King, who were joined by honorary co-chairs Anna Wintour, Tom Ford and Instagram’s Adam Mosseri.

Blake Lively was one of the first celebrities to walk the Met Red Carpet and her wonderful Versace gown was a node to NYC.

Kim Kardashian wore Marilyn Monroe’s iconic dress, the one she famously sang “Happy Birthday, Mr. President” at John F. Kennedy’s birthday fundraiser in 1962. She later changed into a replica.

Gigi and Bella Hadid were among the celebrities that did not respect this year’s Met Gala theme. Instead, they opted for spandex and leather looks, making them look rebellious.
