When you are famous, especially in the case of Kendall Jenner, every word you say or any interview is carefully examined by those who read or see it. In an interview with Love Magazine, Kendall Jenner, who is the highest paid model, gave a more personal interview by revealing how hard it is to be part of the fashion industry.
She expresses that: “Since the beginning we’ve been super selective about what shows I would do. I was never one of those girls who would do like 30 shows a season or whatever the fuck those girls do. More power to ‘em. But I had a million jobs, not only catwalks but everything else. The whole combination was very overwhelming and I started to freak out a little bit and needed to take a step back,” says the 22-year-old, admitting that she “was on the verge of a mental breakdown.”
Though, these words might have been expressed in an innocent way, it made many people furious, especially models. Words like “I was never one of those girls who would do like 30 shows a season or whatever the fuck those girls do.” have created an uncomfortable situation and some models have taken those words quite personal and have expressed their ideas on social media.
One writes: “When I started in this industry I was pretty much starving for the first 3 years. Working every single day for free. Waiting for the day someone would notice me and my hard work and give me the chance to do ONE show! She even continues by saying that: “I couldn’t even go back home for Christmas because I was absolutely broke. I had to work so hard for people to even remember my name!
Other models express their own indignation as below:
Well, Kendall, you should think before acting next time, because your words have hurt some models who earn their living through modeling.
