Highlights from Milan Fashion Week

28/02/2022

And that was a wrap for Milan Fashion Week! The Italian fashion capital gave us some wonderful days filled with amazing designs, celebrities attending shows, beautiful street style looks and la crème de la crème, a pregnant Rihanna attending the Gucci show. But, let’s focus first on some of the highlights of Milan Fashion Week that are definitely worth mentioning.

Gucci x Adidas collaboration

Finally, after two years Gucci held a physical show that we knew from the very beginning wouldn’t be just a simple comeback. Rihanna attended the show rocking a headdress and showing her full belly, which became the talk of the day. Another headline was Alessandro Michele’s collaboration with Adidas by merging sartorial tradition with sportwear.

The new image of Diesel

Since the arrival of Glenn Martens as the new creative director of Diesel, the brand has entered a new area of changes and is trying to bring back its days of glory. Marten’s vision for the Autumn/Winter 2022 collection was all about creating something magical that  everyone would wear, and what could be better than using denim?

The collection was a manifestation of youth and pop culture, something that the brand has always been connected with. Well, we’ll expect more great things from Diesel from now on.

Matthieu Blazy’s debut for Bottega Veneta

The fashion industry was left speechless when it was announced that Daniel Lee left Bottega Veneta. For those who are not familiar with Lee, he is the man behind the successful comeback of Bottega Veneta as everyone’s favorite brand back in 2019.

But we are certain that Matthieu Blazy will be an important asset for the brand. Blazy has had a successful career working at Raf Simons, Maison Margiela, Celine and Calvin Klein before landing the dream job as the Creative Director of Bottega Veneta.

Blazy’s debut collection with Bottega Veneta was clean, comfortable and very minimalistic. Well, as someone who has worked closely with Phoebe Philo, minimalism is part of his professional growth as a designer.

Ready to return to the office?

Every fashion house is already giving us hints that returning to the office is closer than ever. How do we know that?

So far, suits have been the highlight of this fashion week. Donatella Versace set the tone with her Autumn/Winter 2022 collection by opening her event with a powerful black suit.

Julia Fox steals the scene during Milan Fashion Week

Sorry Kim, but Julia Fox was the talk of Milan Fashion Week. As much as we adored Kim’s daring style during MFW, everyone’s attention was on Fox. The cold weather did not stop Fox from stepping out in Milan in a mini skirt paired with knee-high boots.
