How I Take Care of my Hair in Summer

20/06/2019

During summer we all face a major issue: sun, chlorine and salt water are considered our enemies during this period, because they leave our hair a complete mess. As much as we try to be at our best on the beach, our hair keeps ruining our glam moment. For such reason, I take really good care of my hair, because during summer the strands become dry, we suffer from frizzy and greasy hair and especially the hair colour fades. With the latter you only think about the wasted time spent at the hair colourist, because your hair colour is not the same as before.

When taking care of your hair you should keep in mid a few tips.

First things first, wear a hat at all times, because it will be your life saviour. Wearing a hat not only protects your skin from the UV rays, but it also creates a barrier for your hair, because the sun exposure, sweat and salt water remove the moisture from your strands by making them dry. Besides wearing a hat, there are plenty of hair products that can moisturize your hair, so keep in mind buying one before going on holidays.

When at the beach or the swimming pool, your hair has the tendency to absorb chemicals of the pool and salt water. Thus, it is important that you use a hair lotion that protects it, before getting into water. Such lotions can be leave-in conditioners or treatments for damaged hair. By doing so, your hair will absorb the lotion you have applied and not the chlorine, or the salt water.

I use Kérastase Soleil CC Cream before and after sun exposure. The cream can be applied on damp or dry hair. The CC Cream offers what we all need on a daily basis: healthy and shiny hair. So, it makes sure my hair stays protected when UV rays are so strong.

If you don’t want to suffer from dry hair that will also cause breakage, try air drying more than blow drying and opt for cold showers instead of hot showers.

I totally recommend paying attention to your hair the same way as you pay attention to your skin. Opt for hair masks and shampoos that are specifically used after sun exposure, but also try hair treatments while you are at the hair salon. Choose the products based on your hair type, and your hair will look healthy the entire season.

I use Kérastase Bain Après-Soleil Shampoo which removes chlorine, salt and sand residues that my hair has absorbed throughout the day. By doing so it restores shine by hydrating and nourishing it and my hair stays smooth.

As a Mask I use Kérastase Masque UV Défense Active which repairs coloured hair exposed to the sun. It keeps my hair shiny and it protects the colour.

When I need maximum protection, I also use Moroccanoil Treatment which is perfect for keeping hair nourished and smooth all the time.
