Gal Gadot gave an empowering speech as she picked up the #SeeHer Award at the Critics’ Choice Awards last night. The Wonder Woman actress was presented with the honor by the movie’s director, Patty Jenkins, honoring the actress for challenging female stereotypes on screen and off. He called Gal a “wonderful human being who used all her superpowers to breathe life, complexity, and joy into a tour de force performance.” Gadot accepted the award by giving an inspiring speech. “I want to share this award with all the women and men who stand for what’s right, standing for those who can’t stand or speak for themselves. And I promise, my commitment to all of you is that I will never be silenced. And we will continue to band together to make strides uniting for equality”,she said.
In addition to Gadot’s tribute, Wonder Woman received three Critics’ Choice nominations, for best action movie, visual effects, and costume design. For Gal, this role was her dream role. “Throughout my career, I was always asked to describe my dream role. And it was clear to me that I wanted to portray a strong and independent woman—a real one. The irony in this is that later, I was cast as Wonder Woman, and all of these qualities I looked for, I found in her. She’s full of heart, strength, compassion, and forgiveness”, Gal Gadot said.
Both Jenkins and Gadot are on board to return for Wonder Woman 2, which is scheduled to hit theaters Nov. 1, 2019.
