Emily Ratajkowski to publish a book of essays entitled ‘My Body’

16/10/2020

Emily Ratajkowski has announced that she is to have a book of essays published. The model – who announced the news via her Instagram account – has written about what it means to be a woman in a book entitled ‘My Body’.

“Thrilled and humbled to announce my book of essays entitled ‘My Body’ will be published by Metropolitan Books,” the model wrote. “It’s surreal to be working with an imprint that has published so many writers I admire (Noam Chomsky! Edward Snowden!) Now it’s time to get to work!”

According to Metropolitan Books, the essays will focus on “what it means to be a woman and a commodity, how men treat women and why women permit it”.

Editor Sara Bershtel, who works for the publisher, complimented Ratajkowski for her honesty in her work.

“Emily Ratajkowski reveals herself to be devastatingly honest, nuanced, and strong — I’m not surprised that she thinks of herself first as a writer,” she told Associated Press. “I also admire how outspoken she is, how political, and how unafraid – what force she’ll be!”

This will not mark Ratajkowski’s first published work. Last month, the model wrote a personal essay for New York Magazine which focused on the issues around image, power and consent through her life as a model, which was entitled ‘Buying Myself Back’.
