Did Kim Kardashian West Copy Jean Paul Gaultier?

27/04/2018

Everything that Kim Kardashian West does becomes news. Recently, the Keeping Up with the Kardashian star, unveiled the bottle of her new fragrance. In order to create the shape of the bottle, Kim covered her body in clay and took a mold of it and made it a perfume bottle. When speaking of the smell, she revealed to Business of Fashion that “It smells to me like what I would think golden smells like, even though that’s a color and something that’s just luminous,”

So far, things were going very well, until everyone started noticing similarities with Jean Paul Gaultier’s 1993 perfume Classique. Jean Paul Gaultier’s perfume features the body of a woman without her head, arms and legs. Kim has done the same thing with the bottle of her new fragrance. It was the famous instagram account @diet_prada that started this whole “copy-paste” game revealing the similarities of both bottles.

Ok so the finished bottle for the new @kkwfragrance isn’t out yet, but is there much doubt left as to what it’s gonna look like?  KK is quite literally leaving VERY little to the imagination lol.  We spy more than a few shades of @jeanpaulgaultier ’s iconic “Classique” fragrance bottle…itself a nod to @schiaparelli ‘s 1937 fragrance “Shocking” – which at the time literally shocked with its dressmakers dummy bottle based on Mae West’s famous figure. Is it a battle of the bods? • #jeanpaulgaultier #gaultier #classique #perfume #kkwfragrance #kkw #kimkardashian #bod #loveyourbod #bodypositive #nude #perfumebottle #schiaparelli #elsaschiaparelli #shocking #frangrance #perfumeaddict #dietprada

Such situation made even house Jean Paul Gaultier react in quite a funny way. The fashion house posted the photo of their iconic fragrance bottle on instagram with the caption “Keeping up with the fragrance’s news”.

Will this situation go even further, or it is just a five days story that soon will be forgotten? We’ll just have to wait and see…
