When there is Maison Margiela, there is always uniqueness and we were quite sure that even this time, we would see beautiful creations presented on the runway. The uniqueness of the Fall/Winter 2018-2019 collection was completed even with the makeup looks of the models created by no other than Pat McGrath.
The makeup artist and her team created a variety of bold lips in different shades like green, blue, orange and purple. This time, the lips were in the center of attention and they were totally a hit, because the vivid shades completely transformed the look of the models.
We were certain that for Pat McGrath, painting the models lips with vivid colors would not be enough. She chose the model Alyssa Traore to create the look that everyone talked about, the futuristic lips. That is how I call it, because the lips of the model were painted in a bright purple by adding glitter and a touch of gloss. Alyssa’s look was in perfect synchronization with the holographic skirt suit she wore on the runway.
For sure we are seeing more and more colors on the runways, and finally we are understanding the messages the makeup artists are sending to us, that random makeup will soon fade away to leave space to colors and creativity.
