Dior presented today during Paris Fashion Week the Spring Summer 2019 collection and it was pure artistic. Dior kicks off Paris Fashion Week with a spectacular show. Dancers from a contemporary dance troupe opened the Christian Dior spring ’19 show with a performance. Maria Grazia Chiuri incorporated a dance-inspired collection of ballerina shoes and flowing tulle gowns into her runway show, inspired by the work of late dance pioneers such as Pina Bausch and Isadora Duncan. “I took great inspiration from the work of a number of artists, including Loïe Fuller, Isadora Duncan, Martha Graham and Pina Bausch, who used dance as a way of breaking free,” Dior creative director Maria Grazia Chiuri told Vogue.
The clothes themselves were balletic, with nude-hued bodysuits, sheer tulle column gowns and quietly shimmering details dominating—certainly stuff worth dancing in. “Dance speaks about the body, it speaks about freedom. And fashion speaks about the same things,” she said.
The Dior Spring/Summer collection was filled with dresses in warm colors and it made us think we were part of a beautiful fairytale.
