It’s official, the 2019 Oscar nominations are in! On Tuesday morning Kumail Nanjiani (a prior nominee for screenwriting, for The Big Sick) and Tracee Ellis Ross announced the nominees for the 91st annual Academy Awards from the Samuel Goldwyn Theater in Beverly Hills. Speaking of hosts, the Academy is still host-less for the actual award ceremony, but as they say in this business, the show must go on, and go on it will—on February 24th on ABC at 8pm ET, to be precise. (And anyways, that host-lessness may not be such a bad thing?) We may still be picking our way through awards season, with acclaimed films picking up accolades at starry ceremonies across the globe, but it wouldn’t be the Oscars without a few surprises and snubs thrown in to the mix—no Bradley Cooper for Best Director? No Won’t You Be My Neighbor in best docs? No acting nominations for Black Panther?—check out the full list of nominees below to see if your picks made the cut.
