The Duchess of Cambridge’s greatest festive style moments

From Christmas at Sandringham to hosting festive parties, the Duchess of Cambridge has given us a masterclass in immaculate winter style since she joined the royal family. Here are a few of her impeccable seasonal style moments from over the years.

The Duchess of Sussex joined the Duchess of Cambridge for their Christmas day celebrations. Kate donned a festive red coat with a matching statement headband, whereas Meghan went for a classic navy ensemble.

Kate arrived for a visit to Evelina London Children’s Hospital in a Christmas green polkadot dress with dainty buttons and cuffed sleeves.

When it comes to formal evening style, Kate continues to get her glamorous looks just right. For a Diplomatic Reception at Buckingham Palace this December, she added a touch of festive sparkle by choosing this Jenny Packham gown paired with the Lover’s Knot tiara.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge embraced the festive spirit in December 2018, when they hosted a Christmas party at Kensington Palace. Kate paired her striking tartan skirt by Emilia Wickstead with a cropped cashmere cardigan from Brora.

While Kate opted to wear an old favourite Paule Ka skirt suit for a visit to UCL in November 2018, she paired it with a fresh new hairstyle; a pretty wavy ponytail dressed up with the perfect festive accessory – a black velvet J Crew bow.

For the Christmas Day church service in 2017, Kate looked her most festive in a red and green plaid coat by Miu Miu. The Christmassy bouquet given to her by a member of the crowd matched the tartan style perfectly.

In a break from tradition, the Cambridges decided to celebrate Christmas with the Middletons in 2016. For the Christmas Day service in Bucklebury, Berkshire, Kate looked immaculate in a belted coat by Hobbs paired with matching shoes and a clutch.

The royal trio attended a Christmas party for volunteers at a London-based youth service in December 2016. Kate got into the festive spirit with a red and green printed dress by Vanessa Seward.

Kate stuck to a trusted classic – the little red dress – for a Christmas party at the Anna Freud Centre on 15 December, 2015. Her chic pleated style was from McQueen.

In December 2014, William and Kate travelled to New York City for a two-day visit. Kate, who was pregnant with Princess Charlotte at the time, chose a bouclé style coat with a touch of sparkle from maternity brand, Seraphine.

The McQueen coat returned on Christmas Day 2013. This time, Kate added a hat with a sweet bow detail by milliner Gina Foster.

A week later, her Christmas red carpet style continued to be spot at the Natural History Museum. Kate wore a stunning black lace gown by Temperley London.

The Duchess wowed in an ivory gown by Roland Mouret at a screening of Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom in December 2013.

The duchess debuted this Black Watch tartan coat dress during a school visit on St Andrew’s Day in November 2012. The Alexander McQueen design went on to become one of her go-to winter pieces.

Kate reminded us that you can’t go wrong with velvet at a Christmas party back in December 2011. She chose a black style by Alexander McQueen for ‘A Night of Heroes’ in London.

On Christmas Day 2011, Kate made her first appearance at St Mary Magdalene Church on the Sandringham estate. She chose a festive berry coat and matching velvet hat for the family occasion.
