Christmas Movies

07/12/2022

Christmas is the time when you get homesick and all you want is to get home as soon as possible and be surrounded by your loved ones.  Most people enjoy staying home during Christmas by drinking hot chocolate, eating cookies and watching movies. We have to admit that Christmas and movies go together like Santa Claus and cookies.

There’s no better way to spend your holiday season by getting cosy on a couch and watching Christmas movies. Many of the best Christmas movies feature heartwarming tales about love, kindness and happiness and you can watch them together with your friends or family.

We have selected for you some timeless Christmas movies that you should watch:

Love Actually

“Love Actually” is a belly-flop into the sea of romantic comedy. Love Actually involves more than a dozen main characters, each weaving his or her way into another’s heart over the course of one particularly eventful Christmas. It contains about a dozen couples who are in love; that’s an approximate figure because some of them fall out of love and others double up or change partners.

It’s a Wonderful Life

Christmas classic movie that holds up perfectly. This masterpiece from Frank Capra still has a lot to say about community spirit and is a film with much more to it than feel-good sentimentality. It really makes you think about all the impact you have on the world as well as your family/friends. The kind of movie you would want everyone to see.

Serendipity

A couple search for each other years after the night they first met, fell in love, and separated, convinced that one day they’d end up together. It was an excellent combination of comedy and romance with just the right amount of twist to keep you entertained and excited.

White Christmas

A successful song-and-dance team become romantically involved with a sister act and team up to save the failing Vermont inn of their former commanding general. Irving Berlin’s beloved musical stars Bing Crosby, Danny Kaye and Rosemary Clooney.

12 Dates of Christmas

We have no shame promoting a cheesy Christmas flick starring Zack Morris. This story follows a young woman who after a horrible blind date on Christmas Eve, wakes up to find she is re-living that same day and date all over again. Amy Smart co-stars. Sometimes you need some cheese.

Home Alone

It’s not Christmas time until Home Alone comes on TV! ‘Home Alone’ is such an iconic Christmas movie and there isn’t a year goes by without it appearing on our televisions over the festive period. I never get tired watching this, again and again. It’s really one of those “feel good” movies, the kind that make you want to cuddle up on the couch with family and relax and enjoy it.

It Happened on Fifth Avenue

This is a very sweet and funny movie and it became a tradition with me to watch it every year. It is a wonderful movie reminiscent of postwar values and family and gets you in the Christmas spirit.  A classic Christmas special that should be on everyone’s annual list to Watch.

A Christmas Carol

What would Christmas be without watching ‘A Christmas Carol’, a story that dates back to 1843 and has been loved and watch every year at this time? “A Christmas Carol” is a exhilarating Christmas movie that joyful remakes the original book into a marvelous interpretation.

Holiday Affair

This is a film I can (and do!) watch over and over again. A Christmas story about a woman, recently widowed, her young son and, two men who have fallen in love with her and the boy. There are some heartwarming scenes between Leigh and her young son Timmy, which will sprinkle Christmas magic over everyone.

The Holiday

The Holiday is a movie that will bring joy to your heart this holiday season. You almost feel like you are in England with Amanda or you are in California with Kate Winslet, and you feel for their characters. If you like romantics, you just might have stumbled upon a nice one here. Enjoy!
