Usually at an award event we are used to the idea of seeing our favourite celebrities stepping in the red carpet in the most breathtaking gowns. But that wasn’t the case at the 2020 Bafta Awards, as our favourite women kept it a bit simple, if that is the right word to describe it.
There were certainly gowns, but nothing extravagant. We have to admit that Jodie Turner Smith totally rocked that yellow sequin gown by Gucci.
All the attendees were required to consider recycling their outfits for the event. Unfortunately, we did not see such thing last night, but only the Duchess of Cambridge made sure to fulfil the requirements from Bafta. She stepped on the red carpet alongside Prince William in an Alexander McQueen gown which she had also worn back in 2012 on the couple’s Malaysian tour.
Last month for example, Joaquin Phoenix announced that he would be wearing the same tuxedo to every awards show, and he really did. We have seen him wearing a custom-made tuxedo from Stella McCartney, which is one of the brands supporting sustainable fashion at the Golden Globes, SAG and Critics’ Choice Awards. Most probably we will see him wearing the same outfit this Sunday evening at the 2020 Academy Awards Ceremony.
Many celebrities, like Margot Robbie, Rooney Mara, Saoirse Ronan, Greta Gerwig, Daisey Ridley, Emilia Clarke etc., decided to go black at the Bafta awards.
