It seems that style resists time just like most art masterpieces and this cannot be considered as a light minded trend, but a simple wish to emphasize our character and the way we dress. It’s only been a while since fashion month. Generally speaking, the ’60s and the ’90s style was what struck everybody most. Apparently most stylists miss the past and wish to bring back the most successful trends dominating those years. The ’60s and the ’90s are definitely the most inspiring decades in modern days fashion and are now gaining more and more attention by the biggest fashion brands. Vintage jeans, matrix sunnies, crop top sweaters, fanny packs, checkered outfits, cat eyeliners etc, are now the most dominating trends.
Fashion repeats itself all the time.
But why is that fashion brands are becoming more and more obsessed with those days?
Nostalgia might be considered among the main reasons. The ’60s style was quite unlike all other decades, due to its revolutionary and elegant traits. Furthermore, it gave way to today’s trends and broadened the horizons of the fashion industry in general. The ’60s and ’90s influence can clearly be seen in modern day fashion, if you just have a look at the recent fashion shows.
Whenever we speak of the ’60s style, we immediately associate it with fashion icons such as Princess Diana, Edie Sedgwick, Audrey Hepburn, Marilyn Monroe, Brigitte Bardot, Spice Girls, and Jackie Kennedy etc. Speaking of Jackie Kennedy, it is important that we know she has become quite an inspiration to many designers.
Fall/Winter 2018 Moschino fashion show was an example of Jackie Kennedy’s influence even nowadays. Her classic suits are back to show us all about her style and the unmistakable style of the 60s.

Thanks to Etro’s collection we are also witnessing a revival of the folk style which was the starting point of fascination for the revolutionary girls of the late ’60s to early ’70s.

What goes around comes around and fashion does not make an exception to that rule. Old styles, ones we could never think of coming back are definitely coming back now and it is only normal that we ask “What is going to become with today’s trends?” What are we going to remember from 2018 a decade later? That’s a tough question indeed, because fashion shows and collections for Spring/Summer 2018 and Fall/Winter 2018-2019 are just a turn back in time, thus reminding us of the ’60s, the ’70s, the ’80s and the ’90s, the golden ages of fashion.
If you are looking for a stylish and elegant look, that’s where you will find it, but bear in mind: you should always remain true to yourselves. Be original. Be inspired, but make it your own way! :)
