Time to give an end to Sexual Harassment

02/01/2018

Sexual harassment has been and it is still the most talked about topic. It got lots of attention since the scandal with the producer Harvey Weinstein and it looks like that now Hollywood Women are fighting to protect women rights and to stop sexual harassment in the workplace.

January 1st, which marks the beginning of a New Year, is also considered as the beginning of a new initiative called Time’s Up, which saw coming together almost 300 Hollywood Women, including famous actors, producers, agents, directors, writers, and many more, to fight sexual harassment across America. The news was published in the New York Times and it includes an A-list of famous personalities like Eva Longoria, Natalie Portman, Reese Witherspoon, Rashida Jones, America Ferrera, Shonda Rhimes, etc.

Very soon we will have the chance to see the actions taken from many personalities to raise awareness and give support to less privileged women. On January 7th, we will see Hollywood personalities wear black as they will walk the Red Carpet at the Golden Globes. Such decision has been made to give an end to gender and racial inequality. Time has come for women to show their strength and to be given a major and important role not only in the workplace, but also in other aspects of life. The initiative will include as well a legal defense fund, which for the moment is $ 13 million, to support less privileged women to take legal action and fight against sexual harassment at their workplace.

Though it is very difficult for many to admit it, but gender and racial inequality is a very serious and delicate matter, and it involves thousand and thousand of women, who are fighting for their rights and we hope that Time’s Up will make a difference and a change. A New Year brings you opportunities, and this is the right moment to fight this matter and to give an end to sexual harassment. The initiative will spread across America, but let’s hope that other initiatives will start and they will include the entire world.
