Beauty is becoming more and more seasonless when it comes to trends, with nail colour choices becoming less predictable and more experimental each fashion week. Whilst dark, berry shades used to be confined to months with the letter “R” in them, deeper hues are featuring more and more during the longer days, whilst there’s a whole new take on nude. Take a pinch of the runway and a pinch of seasonal shades and you’ll land on the spring nail trends for 2019, says Lauren Murdoch-Smith.
Whether it’s all-out embellishment or a subtle nail art design, there’s never been a better time to embrace some art on your nails. Take inspiration from Jeremy Scott with a halo of colour on a nude nail, or choose graphic designs as seen at Vivienne Westwood. Nail art doesn’t have to be complicated.
Buffed, shiny, bare nails might not be the most flattering nail finish but the idea of natural, groomed nails is easy to recreate thanks to the nude nail polish choices now available. Bright nails still have a place this spring, and this season it’s a case of the brighter the better. At both Richard Quinn and Tibi, nails were bold and bright. Don’t limit yourself to one shade though – any bright hue goes, including neon.
It’s time to ignore the seasonal rule of wearing darker shades primarily in the winter months and instead, continue to wear them for spring. At shows from Philipp Plein to Tom Ford, nails bucked the norm and played with darker shades with different nail shapes.
