The Mullet

This year or better say this decade will absolutely bring new ideas and innovations. When it comes to ideas, most of us have that urge to change our look. That can be achieved through a change of hair colour where we wonder: Do I go blond or red? Do I create some highlights or get back to natural?

Besides these uncertainties on whether to change our hair colour, we start thinking about a new haircut. When referring to haircuts we bring new a daring suggestion. After all it is not so daring or odd at all, considering that iconic celebrities such as Elvis Presley, David Bowie, Mick Jagger, Cher and many more used to have such hairstyle, the mullet.

Recently we have seen Rihanna stepping out rocking the hairstyle. Would you dare?

The mullet became quite the sensation by the end of the 70s and the beginning of the 80s. It was such an iconic hairstyle and most of our favourite celebrities used to embrace that look.

Over the years we have seen celebrities like Scarlett Johansson, Rihanna or Zendaya rocking this hairstyle but in 2019 the look became much more famous.

During the Covid19 Pandemic I discovered how “mullets” may have come to be. I shaved all my hair off into a GI buzz. It’s been growing in since February 2020 and naturally it’s all the same length but low and behold it appears to be longer behind my ears on back. You know it’s because what’s on top isn’t long and if brushed back from the face with in natural waves just blends down into the hair growing lower towards the nape of my neck. My hair is wavy so it may look intentional but it’s not. Went from crew cut to mullet all on its own. So now I look at this whole mullet thing differently. Natural growth is a mullet at some point. I am going au naturale!
