The 2020 Venice Film Festival

11/09/2020

Despite ongoing restrictions due to the coronavirus pandemic, the Venice Film Festival has gone ahead this year. The star-studded event is being held as a physical event, unlike many of its counterparts, which were cancelled, postponed or digitised, including the Cannes Film Festival, which was initially due to take place in late June.

Luca Zaia, the governor of Veneto, confirmed that the film festival would go ahead, however he did warn there’d be fewer films involved than usual.

Taking place between 2 and 12 September, the Venice Film Festival is the world’s longest-running film festival and usually draws in some of the most famous film stars in the world, with Cate Blanchett heading up the jury this year. Here we chart the best looks from the red carpet in 2020.
