Taylor Swift collaborates with Stella McCartney on Lover clothing line

Taylor Swift is teaming up with Stella McCartney on a clothing line to celebrate the release of her new album, Lover. The singer announced the news during an Instagram Live video last night, shortly after confirming the title of her seventh studio album.

“Another thing I wanted to tell you… for the release of the Lover album, there’s going to be a collaboration that I’ve done with Stella McCartney,” she said, reports Yahoo Style.

“She’s been a friend for a really long time and also just a woman that I respect so much. I respect what she creates, how she creates it. There’s so much whimsy and imagination and romance to the clothing that she designs. I’ve worn a lot of her stuff recently, and she’s heard the new album, and this new collaboration is inspired by the Lover album.”

She finished: “I’m really really honoured that she would want to collaborate in this way.”

While Swift has never worn one of McCartney’s designs for a high-profile red carpet event, she did wear one of her gowns to make a low-key entrance to the BAFTAs after-party in February, where she was supporting her actor boyfriend Joe Alwyn. The singer was pictured arriving in a pretty sky blue tulle dress by the British designer, and matching coat.

Swift has already dropped a line of Lover merchandise to coincide with the album announcement, so we’re assuming that this collaboration will be a less literal, more luxe, tribute. While McCartney is known for her sleek, sustainable minimalism, Swift’s recent aesthetic (as demonstrated by her Instagram feed) is decidedly more girlie – so, if that’s any indication, we can expect plenty of candy colours, butterfly motifs, ruffles and tie-dye, with a grown-up twist.
