Teen or adult, supermodel or mere mortal, acne doesn’t discriminate – and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley is here to remind us of that.
Not that we’d noticed (the beauty icon’s skin looks consistently clear to us), but the famous face revealed she’s always suffered from spots and opened up about it in a video on her beauty-based website Rose Inc., where she documented her daily skincare routine.
“I get a lot of people asking me what my skin type is,” she says and sighs. “Well, on a good day, I would say I probably have just a couple of spots and on a bad day it can be a lot. I’ve always had a little bit of acne and it’s something that my mum had and it’s something that I’m always trying to better, and so I’m quite diligent about my skincare routine.”
Diligent she is, showcasing a thorough cleanse-and-hydrate product sequence.
“But I have oily skin,” Huntington-Whiteley confirms, “and so that’s one thing that I’m always trying to keep in check and use the right products to support that.”
Two hero products she swears by are the Warming Honey Cleanser and Super Serum by iS Clinical, a results-driven cosmeceutical skincare brand.
But it’s not just skincare proving a solution to her breakouts, but her limited dairy intake. The model explained, “also sometimes I have to go and cut things out of my diet. Currently I’m cutting out eggs and dairy which is really boring because they’re all my favourite things, but there is nothing better than having good skin.”
We all know that skincare isn’t exclusively topical, what you put inside your body can massively affect your quality of skin and its appearance. Studies mostly agree that dairy can exasperate acne, which is why many skincare experts recommend removing it from your diet if you suffer relentlessly with spots.
