There’s another royal baby en route. Princess Eugenie will welcome her first child with husband Jack Brooksbank early next year, Buckingham Palace has confirmed. Eugenie’s parents, Prince Andrew and Sarah, Duchess of York, are “delighted” at the news, as are the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh.
Eugenie today shared a photo of a tiny pair of teddy bear baby shoes, along with a beaming picture of herself and her husband of almost two years, and wrote: “Jack and I are so excited for early 2021…” Her engagement ring, an unusual padparadscha sapphire surrounded by diamonds, designed by Shaun Leane, is visible in the photo.
Sharing in Eugenie’s joy will be her big sister, Princess Beatrice, who herself married businessman Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi in an intimate ceremony at the Royal Chapel of All Saints in Windsor on 17 July this year, wearing a vintage Norman Hartnell couture gown borrowed from her grandmother, the Queen. The sisters are famously close. “We’re each other’s rocks,” Eugenie previously confided in an interview with British Vogue. “We always look after each other. We’ve always been told, we’re the only person in each other’s lives that can know exactly what the other one is going through.”
Eugenie married her long-time love Jack in a royal wedding at Windsor Castle in October 2018, wearing a Peter Pilotto gown with a deliberately low back that exposed the bride’s scar from scoliosis surgery. Her spectacular something borrowed was the Greville emerald Kokoshnik tiara, loaned to Eugenie by the Queen. Almost two years on from that special day, the couple has plenty more to celebrate.
