Princess Beatrice and Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi’s Royal Wedding: Everything You Need to Know

08/02/2020

Wedding bells are again ringing for the British royal family. This time around, Princess Beatrice, the cousin of Prince William and Prince Harry, will be the one heading down the aisle. The daughter of Prince Andrew and Sarah, Duchess of York is newly engaged to her boyfriend, Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi. Here is everything you need to know about the upcoming regal nuptials.

The wedding will be in May.

Beatrice and Mozzi will officially tie the knot on Friday, May 29, the royal family confirmed.

After the couple first announced their engagement last September, Buckingham Palace disclosed that the ceremony would occur in 2020.

Beatrice will marry at The Chapel Royal.

Buckingham Palace confirmed that the wedding will take place at the Chapel Royal in St. James’s Palace. Afterwards, the reception will occur in the gardens of Buckingham Palace.

Several royal weddings have occurred at The Chapel Royal, including Queen Victoria’s wedding to Prince Albert of Saxe-Coburg in 1840. King George V and Queen Mary also married in the Chapel at the end of the 19th century.

The last royal wedding reception at Buckingham Palace occurred for the wedding of Prince William and Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge in 2011.

The couple asks guests to not give them gifts.

Instead, Beatrice and Mozzi have asked guests to look into the work of Big Change and Cricket Builds Hope, according to a Buckingham Palace press release.

Big Change, which Beatrice helped found and currently serves as trustee, brings different communities together to support young people. Cricket Builds Hope uses the game cricket “as a tool for positive social change in Rwanda.”

The couple got engaged during an Italian weekend getaway.

In the same announcement released by Buckingham Palace, it was revealed that the princess and Mozzi rung in their engagement while they were in Italy for a weekend earlier in September.

Princess Eugenie took some of the couple’s engagement photos.

Younger sister Princess Eugenie, who just had her own royal wedding to Jack Brooksbank last October, apparently shot some of the couple’s engagement photos.

“Beabea – wow! I’m so happy for you my dearest big sissy and dear Edo,” Eugenie captioned a sweet photo of the couple on Instagram. “It’s been a long time coming and you two are meant to be. 📷 by me!!”

The images show Beatrice wearing a floral Zimmerman dress and Mozzi in a white shirt and black trousers. Princess Eugenie also included a jaw-dropping photo of Beatrice’s diamond engagement ring.

Other engagement portraits were also shot by photographer Misan Harriman, who shared the photos on his Twitter account.

“Everything clicks when they are together and that’s exactly what my lens captured. It was an honour to observe and document such love,” Harriman wrote. “Massive Congratulations to Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi and Princess Beatrice of York on your wonderful news!”

Princess Beatrice’s engagement ring is a mix of Art Deco and Victorian designs.

After a consultation with Mozzi, jeweler Shaun Leane designed the princess’s diamond-studded engagement ring, which features a round center flanked by baguette diamonds.

“I am so honored Edoardo chose to work with me to design the engagement ring for Princess Beatrice and to have been involved in this special moment in their lives,” the jeweler said. “The bespoke experience was a beautiful journey; from imagining the design with Edoardo to the crafting of the finished rings. Being able to incorporate both Edoardo and Princess Beatrice’s characters into the design has resulted in a unique ring that represents their love and lives entwining.”
