People’s Choice Awards 2020: The best dressed

The latter half of 2020 has been somewhat starved of red-carpet glamour with premieres, award shows and film festivals cancelled, postponed or turned into virtual offerings as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic.

However, last night saw the annual People’s Choice Awards take place in Los Angeles, which, although audience-free and on a much smaller scale than usual, saw a number of stars attend in person, giving us a dose of the glamour we have been missing.

Scroll through to see some of our favourite looks of the night, which saw Jennifer Lopez, Tracee Ellis Ross and Christina Hendricks, among others, step it up on the red carpet.

Jennifer Lopez
Jennifer Lopez pulled out all the stops for a rare 2020 red-carpet appearance as she arrived at the People’s Choice Awards. The actress and singer posed in a red mini dress by Christian Siriano, which featured a bubble hem, cape detail and a nipped-in waist. Lopez teamed the look with a high ponytail, a red lip and a pair of nude heels. A perfect look for the occasion.

Tracee Ellis Ross
As she was picking up the Fashion Icon accolade at the awards, the pressure was on Tracee Ellis Ross on the red carpet, and she certainly delivered. The actress opted for a brown wide-legged trouser suit by Schiaparelli, which she wore bare underneath and teamed with some statement earrings. Ellis Ross later changed into another statement look in the form of a white shirt dress with thigh-high leather boots by Alexander McQueen.

Christina Hendricks
Mad Men star Christina Hendricks indulged in a bit of glamour for the evening, wearing a sparkling silver dress by Marchesa. The actress teamed it with matching silver sandals, a silver clutch and some old Hollywood-inspired waves.

Mandy Moore
Actress Mandy Moore revealed her baby bump on the red carpet for the first time, posing in a simple yet chic black sleeved dress by Brandon Maxwell, paired with some statement blue earrings.

Tiffany Haddish
It was all about floral drama for Tiffany Haddish, who wore a plunging printed design by Prabal Gurung for the award ceremony, where she won the Movie Star of 2020 accolade.

Leslie Jones
Leslie Jones chose to make a powerful statement with her suit. The actress’ tailored Christian Siriano two-piece was printed with the names of victims of police brutality in the United States.

Jameela Jamil
Another actress to choose tailoring on the night was Jameela Jamil, who wore an oversized bright pink blazer and trousers by Christopher John Rogers, complete with an enormous flower detail.
