When it comes to using a concealer, we usually apply it on the eye area, because we want to avoid or reduce any sign of dark circles, but this is not the only reason why we do such thing, because not everyone suffers from dark circles. A common phenomenon that happens mostly is Puffy Eyes, which are created due too many reasons, like: lack of sleep, eating too much salt, laying flat on the bed, crying, allergies, hormonal changes, inherited facial features etc.
Although we are faced with this phenomenon, there are a few tricks that we can do to reduce the appearance of puffy eyes.
One trick is the concealer, but the way most people use it is totally wrong. If you apply concealer on top of the puffy area, you are making it more visible, you are not hiding anything. The concealer brightens any area where you apply it. Thus, by putting it on top of the puffiness, you make it more visible. Instead, apply the concealer on the shadow that is created below the bags. By doing so, you will even your skin tone. Also, you can add a bit of a light powder under the eye area, but remember to never apply any dark colour pencil on the lower lashes, because that can make the bags stand out more.
The tricks mentioned above are more related to using makeup, but there are other tricks you can follow like putting a cold compress, ice cubes wrapped in a cloth, wet tea bags, cucumber slices or two metal spoons that were left in the ice for quite some time. The metal spoon trick is the one that Margot Robbie does on a daily basis to make the eye area look fresh.
Other tricks are related to our daily activities and the way we eat. One of the reasons that puffy eyes are created comes due to the amount of salt that we consume on a daily basis and also when we are dehydrated. Thus, it is important to reduce salt in our diet and start drinking more fluids to prevent dehydration.
Also, lack of sleep will cause puffy eyes, so you should get plenty of sleep and rest. If you are one of those who like to lie flat on the bed, well you should change that habit and opt for a puffy pillow or get two instead.
Pay close attention to the eye area, because it is very sensitive and that is where the first signs of skin’s aging are shown. If you notice that you are in a more serious situation regarding the puffiness, you should visit a specialist.
