Gwyneth Paltrow and Goop are coming to Netflix

05/02/2019

Gwyneth Paltrow will be helping even more of us Goop-ify our lives with her next move. The actress-turned-businesswoman has signed a deal with Netflix for a series that will explore mental, physical, sexual and spiritual wellness this autumn.

Variety reports that Paltrow will present a docuseries alongside Goop’s chief content officer, Elise Loehnen. It will consist of 30-minute episodes where the team will speak to doctors, experts and researchers around the theme of wellness.

The aim is to put an aesthetic and high-quality spin on wellness TV content, something which the Goop team feel is currently missing from the market.

“Gwyneth is a highly visual, tactile person,” Loehnen said. “The quality of everything that we produce is very important to her. She’s always looking for white space. Whether it’s developing physical products or thinking of content. With this show, I think she’s only really interested in opportunities where we can uniquely be ourselves and do things potentially disruptive.”

The Goop team already have plenty of varied experience in producing different types of content, from podcasts to hosting summits and publishing a print magazine, alongside plenty of digital content. Of course, Paltrow is also one of Hollywood’s most famous faces and has appeared in almost 50 movies, meaning that she knows her way around a set.

“We were speaking to the platform question, and where our people are,” Loehnen said of the deal. “They’re watching Netflix. Some of the more strategic, bigger stories we want to tell require a TV budget. Obviously, there’s no better partner in that.”

The currently unnamed show is scheduled to air this autumn.
