Fashion trends have a way of coming back from time to time, as a reminder that fashion is timeless and as much as we look to move forward, we will always take with us memories from the past. In recent years, trends from the 70s, 80s and 90s have had a strong presence and they were the number one choice for many individuals when choosing a certain garment. The early 2000s is yet another period in history which is also impacting today’s fashion.
But as much as we embraced trends from the 70s, 80s, 90s and early 2000s, when we look back in time, we wished that some trends never existed back then, and we hope that we will never see them again in stores.
See below some of the trends we are talking about.
- The vest
Looking like a butler is not ideal at all. As much as you try to combine this piece of cloth, you don’t stand a chance to look good.

- Real fur
We hope that real fur will be banned forever, and individuals start reasoning and stop buying fur.
- Peasant skirts
You could see peasant skirts in every possible colour, and they were paired mostly with a crop top.
- Wedge sneakers
When wedge sneakers became a thing, every girl wanted to have a pair. Now that we look back in time and think about our choice, we totally regret it.
- Low-cut pants
As much as we adore Beyoncé, Christina Aguilera, Britney Spears, Keira Knightley and many more, we still can’t help but hate the low-cut pants. They are not comfortable at all and it is just an outfit for skinny women only. How can you look good in it if you don’t have a flat belly?
- Dresses over pants
There is nothing to say about this trend besides awful, awful, awful. We can’t imagine this trend coming back again.
- Ruffled mini skirts
We believe the photos below speak for themselves, so no need to add anything else.

- Clear plastic shoes
Shoes are made to be comfortable, but when you look at Kim wearing a pair of Yeezy plastic shoes, there is nothing beautiful about them. They are not comfortable at all, especially when you have to stand for hours.
- Visors
If you call visors an accessory, then this is too much for us. They are simply useless and there are many options for hair accessories that will make you look good.
- Pedal pushers
Pedal pushers might have had their fame in the 50s and 60s, but they certainly did not make us want them when they came back in the early 2000s. Women used to wear them every day. Well, we have to admit we felt quite comfortable when wearing them, but if you want to be that stylish girl in town, you should skip them.
- Visible thong
There is nothing good about this trend. As much as you try analysing it, you can’t find a reason for it to be called a trend, even though some of our celebrities in the 90s used to attend events wearing a visible thong.
- Denim skirts
In this case we have to point out that not all denim skirts are awful. Those who have a length above the knee look pretty good (not including here Christina Aguilera’s denim skirt she wore at the VMAs).
In the 90s you could see women wearing long denim skirt that we simply wished never existed.
- Turtleneck
Turtlenecks are pretty good especially during winter as you can wear them with anything. In this post we are referring to the sleeveless turtlenecks that we simply can’t understand the meaning of wearing them. You can’t wear them in winter because they do not keep you warm and you can’t wear them during spring/summer time, as they will make you suffer from the heat.
- Platform shoes
We beg designers not to bring them back.
15. Winklepickers
This trend was a total nightmare and we are so happy that they are gone for good. Nowadays you see lots of shoes with pointed toe but they do not have the same horrible length of the ones from the 2000s.
