Everything you need to know about Coachella 2019

02/04/2019

Californian music festival Coachella is considered one of the hottest tickets on the festival and celebrity circuit for a slew of reasons, not the least of which is its stellar location. The music festival is held in celebrity ground zero, California, making it almost too easy for Hollywood’s hottest to attend.

Location aside, the Coachella Valley Music and Arts festival—to give it its full due—is everything a summer music festival should be, from sunny skies to incredible Instagrammable moments (Beyoncé in 2018!) and an exceptional line-up of music acts. And, since its inception in 1999, it has evolved into more than just a festival for music lovers. It’s now also a place for fashion lovers to show off their best ‘festival fashion’ and get wardrobe inspiration from their favourite celebrities, who love posting daily Coachella outfit snaps almost more than they love posting selfies.

And while there’s little doubt Beyoncé performing at last year’s Coachella festival was a once-in-a-lifetime experience, the 2019 festival line-up is strong, particularly for electronic music fans and well worth both the festival ticket price and the flight to the USA.

Here, we round up everything you need to know about Coachella 2019.

When is the Coachella 2019 festival?

Week one: April 12-14, 2019
Week two: April 19-21, 2019

Each year Coachella is held at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, California and this year is no exception. Note, it’s in the desert, so dress for those climes.

Ariana Grande, Tame Impala and Childish Gambino (a.k.a. Donald Glover).

The full Coachella 2019 line-up is here, highlights include: Janelle Monáe, Diplo, Jaden Smith, DJ Snake, Solange, Weezer, Wiz Khalifa, Khalid, Chvrches, Virgil Abloh, Billie Eilish, Kid Cudi and more. After Kanye West reportedly pulled out of headlining the music festival after his demand for a custom-built dome for his performance couldn’t be met, the rapper announced he’ll be returning to the lineup with his musical Sunday Service, complete with gospel choirs and a star-studded audience, which is set to take place on Easter Sunday, April 21.

“We were out in Palm Springs and they took us to a little campground, because we were thinking about a little performance in Palm Springs, just a little one. Then they had a mountain, he had a mountain waiting for us,” West shared in a video posted to Coachella’s Twitter account. “He had a date waiting for us. Only one date that mountain would be available to us: Easter Sunday at Coachella. That confirmation was confirmed last night.”

Who is not performing at Coachella 2019?

Justin Timberlake was slated as a headline act for the 2019 festival but is no longer in the mix. The Grammy-winning artist is reportedly unable to perform at Coachella 2019 due a scheduling clash with his Man of the Woods tour.

Unless you’ve already scored tickets (week one reportedly sold out in 40 minutes), sorry friends, they’re already sold out. But, you can add your name to the waitlist for tickets to either week one or week two of the festival on the Coachella website: www.coachella.com

Hop a plane to Los Angeles or Palm Springs. Once there, the festival grounds are about a 30 minute drive from Palm Springs, which is a very cool city to base yourself from.
