Everything We Know About the Sex Pistols Miniseries ‘Pistol’

Pistol, the new six-part biographical drama, will tell the story of the Sex Pistol’s rise to fame during the 1970s. The FX miniseries is primarily told through the lens of the band’s guitarist Steve Jones, played by Toby Wallace, as much of the series is based on his memoir Lonely Boy: Tales from a Sex Pistol. Written and created by Craig Pearce and directed by Daniel Boyle, the limited series will stream on Hulu starting May 31. Ahead of the show’s premiere, here’s everything you need to know about the upcoming series.

Despite the group’s historic legacy, the Sex Pistols were together for less than three years. The series follows the true story of the group in this short time span, from their early days as an underground punk band to their place at the forefront of Britain’s punk movement. Due to infighting among the members, addiction issues, and a meddlesome manager, the band seems to fall apart before it can really take off.

Of course, however, the series will also follow the stories of band members Johnny Rotten played by Anson Boon, Sid Vicious played by Louis Partridge, Glen Matlock played by Christian Lees, and Paul Cook played by Jacob Slater.

The series will also focus on the youth revolution and the rise of punk which The Sex Pistols both embodied and represented. Other members of the cast include Game of Thrones’ Maisie Williams as Pamela Rooke, Westworld’s Talulah Riley as Vivienne WestwoodIris Law as Soo Catwoman, Emma Appleton as Nancy Spungen, and The Queen’s Gambit’s Thomas Brodie-Sangster as Malcolm McLaren, the band’s manager.
