Sunday afternoon in Milan hosted Dolce & Gabbana’s spring/summer 2018 show. But this wasn’t the first show for the brand during the city’s fashion week – it was the third. Sunday’s collection, meanwhile, was called Queen of Hearts and featured a backdrop of giant playing cards.
It was all crowns and queens on Sunday as Dolce & Gabbana unveiled a collection that paid joyous homage to women, who were feted on catwalks around in Milan this week.
There were striking three-piece suits in solid colours and slim stripes that had shiny fabric, wide lapels and roomy trousers that didn’t quite make it to the ankle.
The central theme of the Spring Summer 2018 collection is LOVE, and the Queen perfectly embodies the idea. The models (including Sara Sampaio, Elsa Hosk, Hailey Baldwin, Zhenya Katava, Lia Pavlova and Vika Ignatenko) walked the runway on the sound of Crazy in Love by Beyoncé. The prevailing hue is deep red, present in almost all looks as a symbol of a strong and … regal femininity.
The models’ heads are embellished with gold tiaras or crowns adorned with refined gemstones, while for the day the Queen favors flower-embellished headbands as a Made in Italy take on Frida Kahlo.
