Bella Hadid

“A tight bun or ponytail is always my go-to hair – I like to keep my hair out of my face, especially when I’m working because it’s easy and I don’t have to think about it. My secret? A lot of hairspray. And a lot of gel. I used to use my brother’s mousse that he used on his hair, so I stole it and he’s probably mad at me that I did that.”

Chloë Sevigny

“I try and dry the roots upside-down so it doesn’t lie flat – I’ve learned the tricks of the trade. And I do a cool rinse at the ends. I dye and highlight it all the time, so I try to take care of it. And I love to brush it with Mason Pearson brushes… I always have a little Mason Pearson in my bag.”

Charlize Theron

“I have no attachment to my hair – I’m excited about changing it and I always think that if I hate it, it’s going to grow back. Most of the time it’s the work I’m doing at that moment that is influencing it. In terms of products I’ve definitely noticed the difference between sulfate and non-sulfate formulas, so that’s my one thing I won’t change – my hair products have to have no sulfates in.”

Kate Moss

A great trick they do on photoshoots is doing these little braids underneath your hair to pull your skin up, like a little lift. It’s amazing. That’s an Old Hollywood trick. I think they had to know all that stuff before there was retouching, they had to do it all by hand.”

Sarah Jessica Parker

“I use Serge Normant’s shampoo and conditioner always – that’s the truth and if you went to my hotel bathroom right now you’d be like: ‘She’s not kidding!’ He also has a really great mask that I try to use in the summer when I’m not working as much. I use his Dream Big Instant Volumizing Spray which I go crazy for because I don’t have the skills to really do hair.”

Blake Lively

“Lots of L’Oréal Paris Elnett Hairspray. Always Elnett. It’s funny – you think I’m just saying that because I work with L’Oréal, but I’ve been on shoots for other companies where they may have a competing beauty line and they actually cover the Elnett with duct tape. Everyone uses it. And then to finish, a little teasing at the roots. Especially when you have body down at the bottom it can get flat at the top. I know people like to tease tight with a comb, but I like getting a big soft bristle brush – I always use Mason Pearson brushes – and do two big strokes inwards towards the parting. Then you can shake it and it all looks messier and mussier.”
