On Saturday, all eyes were on Burberry as the company’s final collection under Christopher Bailey’s tenure debuted in London. It’s a major moment, because Christopher Bailey presented his final collection for the label. Christopher Bailey leaves Burberry after 17 years at the top this weekend. “My final collection here at Burberry is dedicated to — and in support of — some of the best and brightest organizations supporting LGBTQ+ youth around the world,” Bailey said in a press release.
The collection is sure to be momentous in more ways than one. Burberry dedicated this collection to the celebration of LGBTQ communities. In the February 2018 collection, Burberry introduce a rainbow check that incurporates the LGBTQ+ symbol. The rainbow, a symbol of inclusiveness and joy, is celebrated throughout the February collection. Puffa jackets and hi-top trainers came with rainbow stripes, and a trenchcoat rocked this collection of Burberry. Club jackets, performance blousons, golfing sweaters, and polo shirts featuring a multitude of Burberry logos, and re-issued archival pieces from the 80s and 90s, are re-released alongside the runway collection.
