Blue Ivy Carter may be undecided on whether she’ll become the next Beyoncé, but she has already accomplished a feat most musicians only dream of: getting a song on the Billboard Top 100 chart. The Daily Mail reports that Blue’s song with her mother Beyoncé, SAINt JHN, and Wizkid from Bey’s The Lion King: The Gift album, “Brown Skin Girl,” got the 76th spot on the list for this week. Not bad for an elementary school student who’s only entering second grade this fall.
Blue appeared in her mother’s music video for Bey’s song “Spirit,” where she was a scene-stealer there too. On “Brown Skin Girl,” Blue opens and closes the track with her singing. Twitter had a meltdown over it.
People reported last week that Blue has a lot of personality…and is super close to her mom. “She is very sassy, high energy and knows what she wants,” a source told the outlet. “Especially after the twins [two-year-olds Sir and Rumi] were born, Beyoncé made sure that Blue was able to embrace her new role as a big sister. She also lets her go to video shoots, award shows and music recording. They have a very special bond!”
Also, she’s very into the arts. “Of course both Beyoncé and Blue love music. Blue loves singing, dancing and performing. She is a natural,” the source said.
Blue’s grandmother Tina Lawson told Us Weekly back in November that Blue has performing “since birth [because] how could she be in this family and not sing?” Still, Lawson said, Blue “hasn’t decided yet” whether she wants to pursue a career in entertainment. Blue’s Billboard Top 100 foray may just be her testing the waters.
